Structural Engineering for Spooky Nook Sports Complex
Spooky Nook Sports Complex Champion Mill 1 in Hamilton, Ohio is the largest indoor sports complex in the United States and our most expansive structural engineering project to date.
This 691,000-square-foot sports facility features 14 hardwood courts, 14 sport courts, a 65,000-square-foot fitness center, a 200-meter indoor track, and a full-size outdoor turf field. The project was designed by Community Design Alliance, with our team providing structural engineering services throughout.
The project involved the adaptive reuse of a historic building, preserving key architectural elements, including the original exterior wall facing the street. Our engineers designed a new steel building that seamlessly integrates with the preserved structure, showcasing our expertise in historic building renovation and expansion.
Adding to the complexity, the facility includes multiple steel construction systems. Though the buildings are connected under one roof, each section was engineered to be structurally independent, reflecting our team’s experience in large-scale steel construction and multi-system building design.
