Structural Engineering For State Avenue Lofts
Our team provided structural engineering services for State Avenue Lofts, a historic preservation project renovating two side by side abandoned buildings in Cincinnati into apartment units.
The buildings date back to the 1900s, and we worked alongside Kaiker Construction.
Both buildings had sat vacant, with loose brick and boarded up openings, and the second floor structure in one building had entirely collapsed.
We designed new framing to replace the damaged structure and brought the century old buildings up to current code.
The interiors were fully gutted, removing all original interior walls to open up the layout. New interior bearing walls were established in both buildings. One was picked up with a flush beam, the other traced down through a system of posts and beams in the basement.
The finished buildings hold a dozen one and two bedroom units, fully occupied as low income housing, built with all wood framing and modern code compliant systems.
